This Committee serves a dual role by recommending how federal funds are spent from the Part H of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (addressing infants, toddlers, and birth to age 3) and Part B of this Act (allowing preschool advice for the Department of Public Instruction for children age 3-5 years with disabilities). The governor appoints the chairman and three members that must be parents of handicapped children; three members that must be public or private providers of early intervention services; one member that must be a state legislator; one member that must be personnel preparation; one member that must be a pediatrician from North Dakota Chapter, American Academy of Pediatricians; and the seven remaining members representing each of the appropriate agencies involved in the provision of or payment for early intervention services to handicapped infants and toddlers and their families and others selected by the governor; and one member is a representative from the North Dakota Department of Insurance.
