Dalrymple Commends 1-112th Aviation Regiment for Successful Mission in Kosovo

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. Jack Dalrymple today commended the members of the North Dakota National Guard’s 1-112th Aviation Regiment for the successful completion of a year-long NATO peacekeeping operation in Kosovo. The Guardsmen returned to North Dakota today from Camp Atterbury, Ind., where they spent the past week completing their demobilization process. The soldiers returned to the U.S. on September 7.

“We are proud to welcome home the men and women of the 1-112th Aviation Regiment from a successful year-long NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo,” Dalrymple said. “These soldiers did an outstanding job in service to our state and nation, and we are grateful to them and their families for their sacrifice and for all they have done on our behalf.”

While deployed, the unit was part of the Aviation Task Force that was formed to provide aviation support for preserving a safe environment and the freedom of movement throughout Kosovo. The 55-member unit is based in Bismarck and is comprised of Guardsmen from 15 North Dakota communities.
