Financial Literacy Month
WHEREAS, financial literacy is important for helping North Dakotans achieve their personal financial goals; and
WHEREAS, North Dakotans face many choices which affect their financial future, and so it is important for consumers to be well informed when making decisions regarding their financial transactions; and
WHEREAS, responsible money management allows citizens to save for the future and avoid excessive debt; and
WHEREAS, the North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy, a public-private partnership, is working to improve the personal financial literacy of all North Dakotans by promoting the teaching of personal finance and the increased understanding of saving, investing and credit choices; and
WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to support the efforts of North Dakota Jump$tart, whose partners and volunteers generously share their time, expertise and knowledge to promote financial literacy for our citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim April 2012, FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH in the state of North Dakota.
