Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week
WHEREAS, Muscular Dystrophy is a group of inherited disorders that involves muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, progressively increasing in severity over time; and
WHEREAS, many children and families in North Dakota are affected by Muscular Dystrophy; and
WHEREAS, by raising the awareness of Muscular Dystrophy in our state, we can assist those impacted by the disorder and work to find a cure; and
WHEREAS, money raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will help send kids afflicted with the disease to summer camp, allowing them to participate in camp activities such as swimming, fishing and playing baseball; and
WHEREAS, North Dakota citizens are encouraged to recognize the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the help, hope and knowledge they provide families impacted by Muscular Dystrophy and to support the families and all those working to find a cure.
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim January 22-28, 2012, MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY AWARENESS WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
