North Dakota Farm Bureau Week
WHEREAS, agriculture is one of North Dakota’s most important industries; and
WHEREAS, farm families have a strong tradition and role in North Dakota’s economy through our rural communities, churches and organizations; and
WHEREAS, the volunteer efforts of grassroots members involved with local units of government, county boards and state committees strengthen the voice of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the North Dakota Farm Bureau has existed since 1942 as an integral part of our agriculture education and legislative process; and
WHEREAS, as one of North Dakota’s largest general farm organizations, the Farm Bureau’s more than 26,000 members have contributed greatly to the state’s economy and the nation’s food supply; and
WHEREAS, Farm Bureau members are participating in the development of value-added opportunities and new uses for commodities, creating new products and markets for North Dakota farmers and ranchers in the global economy; and
WHEREAS, the Farm Bureau continues to play an important role in representing and strengthening the agriculture industry in North Dakota.
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim March 13-19, 2011, NORTH DAKOTA FARM BUREAU WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
