| The Governor and First Lady honor Megan Girodat as the winning student in a statewide essay contest recognizing the importance of eating dinner as a family. The essay contest: "Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner With Your Children," drew more than 1,500 essays from students across the state. |

| Governor Hoeven participates in a salute to the North Dakota Air National Guard at the Fargo Air Museum with North Dakota aviation artist Rick Herter and Major Dean Eckmann. Herter created the oil painting, 'First Pass, Defenders Over Washington,' which depicts a North Dakota Air National Guard F-16 making the first, low altitude pass to inspect damage at the pentagon on September 11, 2001. Eckmann is the pilot who flew the aircraft. The original painting is on permanent display in the Pentagon. |

Hoeven launched Healthy North Dakota in July at UND, a statewide effort to educate and encourage the North Dakotans to take responsibility for their own health. |
