Hoeven Appoints Citizens to State Board
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven recently named several citizens to the following state boards:
Dean Somerville of Minot has been appointed to the Board of Barber Examiners to complete the term of Jim Clow. Somerville is a retired barber; his term will expire in December 2002. The Board supervises and regulates the education and the practice of barbers.
Duane Bergeson of Bismarck has been appointed to a four-year term on the State Council for Developmental Disabilities. Bergeson is employed with Job Service North Dakota as the manager of employment services for the state. The Council advocates for policy changes that promote choice, independence, productivity and inclusion for all North Dakotans with developmental disabilities.
James Schmidt of Petersburg has been appointed to a five-year term on the State Electrical Board. Schmidt is an electrical project manager at Bergstrom Electric, Inc. The Board is responsible for the licensing of electricians.
Dr. Dale Dohms of Minot has been appointed to a five-year term on the Board of Dental Examiners. Dohms has a private practice. The Board’s duties include examining, registering, and licensing of dentists in North Dakota.
Karen Schlelinder of Grand Forks has been reappointed to a three-year term on the Independent Living Council. Schlelinder is the director of emergency services with Red River Valley Community Action. The Council works to establish and expand Independent Living services to meet the needs of people with disabilities in the state.
Dr. Rick Detwiller of Bismarck has been appointed to a five-year term on the Board of Pharmacy. Detwiller is a pharmacist and is director of the outpatient pharmacy at St. Alexius Medical Center. The Board licenses pharmacists in the state.
Dr. Rob Lauf of Mayville has been appointed to a three-year term on the Judicial Nominating Committee. Lauf practices at Goose River Dental Associates. This committee screens candidates for vacant judgeships and provides the governor with a list of names from which to make an appointment.
