Hoeven: President Bush Nominates Erickson To Federal Bench
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today announced that President Bush has nominated Ralph R. Erickson of Fargo to be Federal District Judge in the North Dakota District.
“Ralph has a strong track record,” Hoeven said. “He has not only presided outstandingly over some of the most high profile cases in the East Central District, but he has also spearheaded the juvenile drug court. I’m very pleased with the President’s selection, and hope the Senate quickly confirms the nomination.”
Erickson has more than eight years experience as a trial judge in one of the most active jurisdictions in North Dakota. He has sat on a broad range of civil and criminal cases. Erickson joined the East Central Judicial District bench in 1995, and currently serves as Juvenile Drug Court Judge under a pilot program under the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Erickson graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota Law School in 1984, when he entered into private practice. In 1994 he served as a county magistrate in Fargo. He served as a county judge for Traill, Steele, Nelson and Griggs counties in 1994, before stepping up to the East Central District Court.
The nomination now goes to the U.S. Senate for confirmation.
