Hoeven Directs Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff On December 7 For Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven today directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Friday, December 7, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of those who lost their lives serving this country at Pearl Harbor. The Governor’s directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President George W. Bush designating December 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
“On this solemn day, we honor the more than 2,400 American lives that were lost in defense of this great nation at Pearl Harbor, and recognize the veterans who, with courage and perseverance, advanced the cause of freedom during World War II,” Hoeven said. “When it mattered most, an entire generation of heroes stepped forward to serve a greater cause and secure our way of life. Today, a new generation of patriots is continuing that proud mission, a mission that emerged from the heroism and resolve that defined that fateful day.”
