Hoeven Presents Keeble Family With North Dakota State Flag At Medal Of Honor Ceremony
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven and N.D. National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk today attended a ceremony in the East room of the White House, where President Bush posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor to the late Master Sgt. Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Keeble for his heroic actions in Korea in 1951.
Hoeven thanked Keeble’s family for his service to his country, and presented them with a North Dakota flag that had flown over the State Capitol Building.
“This honor was long delayed to Master Sgt. Keeble,” Hoeven said. “Today, he took his rightful place beside the other prominent recipients of the Medal of Honor. This is a great day for North Dakota, a great day for the Sioux nation, and a great day for the North Dakota National Guard.”
“With the receipt of our nation’s highest military decoration, Master Sgt. Keeble’s prominent place in U.S. history is now secure,” said Sprynczynatyk. “We are all proud of this N.D. National Guardsman’s achievements and will remain grateful for all of his dedicated service.”
Keeble was a member of the N.D. National Guard when he volunteered for active duty service with the 24th Infantry Division during the Korean War in 1951.
