Hoeven Announces Grants for Economic Development Projects

BISMARCK, ND - Governor John Hoeven today announced that the state has received two federal grants totaling $96,000 from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support economic development efforts in southwest and central North Dakota.

The Roosevelt-Custer Regional Council for Development (RCRCD) was awarded a $52,000 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) grant, and the Three Affiliated Tribes (TAT) received a $44,000 CEDS grant. The grants are designed to provide resources to develop and implement an economic development strategy to strengthen the regional economy and create jobs through public-private participation.

"We have been working very hard with local leaders to support new businesses and expansions that provide good job opportunities," Hoeven said. "Since the regions are currently in the center of the oil activity, these grants will be especially important in helping the recipients develop the framework to continue their growth, diversify their economies, and build for an even brighter future."

The grants will impact Adams, Billings, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, McKenzie, McLean, Mercer, Mountrail, Slope, Stark and Ward counties.
