Gov. Doug Burgum was joined by officials from the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the federal Transportation Security Administration to proclaim October as North Dakota REAL ID Month.

Gov. Doug Burgum met with U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) Robert Wilkie during his visit to North Dakota, discussing ways to continue to enhance services for veterans and thanking the secretary for the VA’s plan to award a grant to build a columbarium at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery near Mandan.

The conversation also focused on determining the extent of damages experienced by the affected jurisdictions and the upcoming recovery process.

Gov. Doug Burgum will welcome U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt to North Dakota on Thursday, Oct. 3, to tour the Medora area and discuss efforts to establish a Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and address deferred maintenance in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the state’s top tourist attraction.
