BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum released the following statement today after the announcement that the United States and China have reached agreement on a Phase 1 trade deal and are beginning negotiations on a Phase 2 deal.
“Securing this first phase of a trade deal with China is a huge step in the right direction for North Dakota’s economy,” Burgum said. “We’re especially encouraged by China’s substantial commitment to purchase additional U.S. goods and services, which will improve market demand for our agricultural products and benefit North Dakota’s farmers, ranchers and manufacturers. We’re grateful for the Trump administration’s renegotiation efforts to bring about positive structural change in our trade relationship with China and look forward to strengthening our ties in the next phase of this agreement.”
