The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center highlights some of the area's most famous of countless travelers and residents over hundreds of years along this special stretch of the Missouri River. Each of our galleries tells the story of different group. Nearby, visitors can step back in time at the reconstructed Fort Mandan, a fully furnished, full-sized replica of the fort in which the Lewis & Clark Expedition overwintered in 1804-1805. The historical interpreter will execute their responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and friendly and pleasant demeanor toward all visitors at the state historic site. The successful applicant will:Actively listen to visitors, answer their questions, welcome and orient them, lead hands-on activities, assist with special events, and lead guided tours.Interpret site history enjoyably and accurately, making good use of research, training, and appropriate language and hands-on skills.Familiarize visitors with the State Historical Society mission and its other state historic sites.Assess and provide for visitors' special needs, such as appropriate services for the elderly, handicapped, and foreign visitors.Provide excellent customer service.Clean and tidy facilities including work areas, public areas, and bathrooms. Perform other light maintenance tasks which might include watering and weeding outdoor plantings, dusting, emptying trash receptacles, and painting.Other duties as assigned.
