BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum today signed an executive order extending an hours of service waiver for drivers of commercial vehicles transporting propane until Feb. 28 and adding haulers of diesel fuel and gasoline to those covered by the waiver.
North Dakotans are faced with extremely low inventories of propane supplies, diesel fuel and gasoline products resulting from market conditions impacted by severe seasonal weather and increased heating fuel demands, the order states.
Waiving the hours of service requirements will ensure that carriers and drivers can deliver propane, diesel and gasoline to businesses, farms, ranches and private households to meet the state’s needs.
The original waiver issued on Feb. 6 covered only propane haulers and was set to expire Feb. 17. The executive order signed today extends the waiver to Feb. 28. All road safety and vehicle compliance regulations still apply.
