BISMARCK – Gov. Doug Burgum released the following statement today regarding the death of Rolette County Sheriff’s Deputy Colt Allery, who was fatally shot in the line of duty Wednesday.

“Kathryn and I offer our prayers and deepest condolences to the family of Deputy Allery, who made the ultimate sacrifice,” Burgum said. “Our hearts go out to his family, friends and law enforcement colleagues. We are deeply grateful for Deputy Allery’s dedicated service and the unwavering commitment of all of our men and women in uniform who risk their lives every day to dutifully protect our citizens.”

Flags will be flown at half-staff statewide to honor Allery on the day of his interment. The governor will issue that directive when the interment date has been announced.
