BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum today directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff until sunset Saturday, Feb. 9, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, as a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of former U.S. Rep. John D. Dingell Jr. of Michigan.
Dingell was the longest-serving member of Congress in U.S. history, serving in the U.S. House from 1955 to 2015. He passed away Thursday at age 92.
The governor’s directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued today by President Donald Trump.
