BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum issued the following statement today, July 4, in commemoration of the 242nd anniversary of America’s independence.
“Independence Day is a time to celebrate our cherished freedoms and pay tribute to the 56 courageous individuals who risked their lives to sign the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming our unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and charting the course for what would become the greatest country on Earth,” Burgum said. “We especially honor and remember the sacrifices of our brave military servicemen and women who have fought and died defending those freedoms throughout our nation’s proud history, including those serving at home and abroad this holiday. First Lady Kathryn and I are deeply grateful for their service, and we wish all North Dakotans a safe, happy and patriotic Fourth of July.”
