BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum will deliver remarks and participate in a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the renovation of a former group home in Fort Totten into a new residential substance-abuse treatment center for adults in the Spirit Lake community.
The project was made possible by a $1.2 million grant from United Health Foundation to Cankdeska Cikana Community College and was developed in collaboration with the Spirit Lake Recovery and Wellness program. The facility will help expand access to needed treatment services and will be the only residential treatment facility in the area outside of the local law enforcement system. Behavioral health, including recovery from the disease of addiction, is one of the governor’s five strategic initiatives.
