BISMARCK, N.D. – State employees and the general public are invited to bring their lunches and listen to the Governor’s Band and Chorus perform Monday, May 14, outside the state Capitol.
The performances by the Mandan High School Concert Band and the Wahpeton High School Choir will begin at 11:45 a.m. on the Memorial Hall plaza at the top of the Capitol’s south steps. In case of inclement weather, the performances will take place inside Memorial Hall on the Capitol’s first floor.
The Mandan High School Concert Band is directed by Jon Baumann and has 52 students in grades 9-12. The Wahpeton High School Choir, under the direction of Dean Aamodt, has 75 students in grades 9-12.
Gov. Doug Burgum selected the Governor’s Band and Chorus from applications submitted by school and civic groups from across the state based on musical talent, achievement and community involvement. The band and chorus may be invited to perform at official state functions held throughout the year.
