BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum and Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford will visit the University of North Dakota on April 6, as part of the governor's commitment to tour all 11 of the state's public colleges and universities this year.
Burgum and Sanford will meet with UND President Mark Kennedy, students, faculty, staff and administrators and tour the Grand Forks campus. They also will participate in a Research Grand Challenges briefing at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences at 1:30 p.m. in Medical School Classroom E221. Media are welcome to attend the briefing about the five research challenges the university is pursuing.
The governor announced his intent to visit all 11 campuses this year during his State of the State Address in January at Minot State University.
The Task Force for Higher Education Governance formed by Burgum in November continues to assess whether changes are needed to the nearly 80-year-old governance structure for North Dakota’s higher education system to ensure it meets the state’s educational and workforce needs for the 21st century. The effort is part of the governor’s broader mission of transforming education, one of his five strategic initiatives for North Dakota.
