BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum will help welcome U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to Fargo on March 9, and attend events with the former Georgia governor as he meets with North Dakota agricultural producers, researchers and commodity groups.
Perdue is visiting North Dakota for the first time as secretary of agriculture at the invitation of Sen. John Hoeven. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp and Congressman Kevin Cramer also will be in attendance.
Burgum will join Perdue on a 9 a.m. tour of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Red River Valley Agricultural Research Center at 1605 Albrecht Blvd. N. in Fargo, followed by a roundtable discussion with ag industry representatives at 10:30 a.m. at North Dakota State University’s AES Greenhouse Complex at 1440 18th St. N. in Fargo.
Burgum will participate with Perdue and Hoeven in a media availability at 11:45 a.m. at the greenhouse, then attend a Collegiate Farm Bureau luncheon with students at 12:15 p.m. in Room 266 of NDSU’s Richard H. Barry Hall at 811 2nd Ave. N. in Fargo.
