Gov. Doug Burgum will kick off the 2024 Main Street ND Summit with a keynote address at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Rough Rider Center in Watford City. Registration for the summit remains open here.
The theme of this year’s Main Street ND Summit is “Regional Prosperity.” The summit provides an opportunity to join forces with local leaders, experts and passionate citizens to share winning strategies, spark fresh ideas and chart a course for regional prosperity.
Summit-related activities begin at 5 p.m. today with a Main Street Kickoff Street Fair. Wednesday’s events include a Long X Visitor Center Little Market, Green Mile Block Party, and City Trail Walk from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and an arts reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The summit concludes on Thursday with the Main Street ND Awards presented by Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller.
Sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Commerce, the Main Street ND Summit is an offshoot of Burgum’s Main Street Initiative, which gives local leaders direct access to a variety of resources, building on community strengths to make sound decisions that help create vibrant cities poised to attract and retain a 21st century workforce and help North Dakota compete and succeed in a global economy through diversification of industries. Communities engaged in the initiative receive direct and focused assistance with community planning and development, tailored support from participating state agencies, streamlined access to resources and learning opportunities and enhanced access to select state resources.
