Gov. Doug Burgum will speak at North Dakota State University’s commencement ceremonies on Saturday at the Fargodome.
The governor is scheduled to speak at both the 10 a.m. ceremony and the 2 p.m. ceremony. A total of 1,420 students have indicated they will participate, according to NDSU.
Burgum earned his bachelor’s degree in university stud10ies from NDSU in 1978, serving as student body president in 1976-77. His grandmother, Jessamine Slaughter Burgum, was the first woman to enroll at NDSU, then known as North Dakota Agricultural College, and Burgum Hall on campus is named after her. The Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Family Life Center on campus also is named for Gov. Burgum’s mother.
