Gov. Doug Burgum has declared a statewide flood emergency in preparation for the threat of significant spring flooding across North Dakota, as state agencies gathered to begin coordinating their response and resources. The governor also toured flood-affected areas in western McKenzie County, hearing heartbreaking stories from residents displaced by the flooding Yellowstone River.

Gov. Doug Burgum has declared a winter storm emergency for a severe winter storm March 13-15 that impacted much of North Dakota. The governor also has granted the first group of waivers for school districts that canceled classes because of severe winter weather.

Doug Burgum signed legislation that will provide $250 million to help cities, counties and townships in non-oil producing counties pay for infrastructure needs, urging local leaders to invest the dollars in existing infrastructure areas to limit the growth of property taxes and create healthy, vibrant communities.
