Gov. Doug Burgum has announced that the Minot Jim Hill Middle School Band and the Leeds Banner Girls Chorus have been selected as the 2019 Governor’s Official State Band and Chorus Programs.

Gov. Doug Burgum has declared a winter storm emergency for a severe winter storm March 13-15 that impacted much of North Dakota. The governor also has granted the first group of waivers for school districts that canceled classes because of severe winter weather.

Gov. Doug Burgum released a statement after signing legislation to repeal North Dakota’s ban on Sunday morning shopping, saying, “We trust retailers to decide when it’s best to open or not open their businesses, and we trust families and consumers to determine how best to spend their time.”

Gov. Doug Burgum signed legislation that will provide $250 million to help cities, counties and townships in non-oil producing counties pay for infrastructure needs, urging local leaders to invest the dollars in existing infrastructure areas to limit the growth of property taxes and create healthy, vibrant communities.

Gov. Doug Burgum joined local, state and federal leaders for the signing of a new Project Partnership Agreement for the Fargo-Moorhead Area Diversion Project, while also applauding the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for asking a judge to allow construction to begin on the flood control project in accordance with the DNR’s permit requirements.
